Sarah Elizabeth Montgomery was the daughter of William Montgomery and Eliza Moorhead. In 1890-1892, she was the general manager for the Puget Sound Telegraph Co., based in Settle, Washington. Also, during this time Sarah when on a trip to Leipsic, Germany. In the Washington State Census for 26 July 1887, two daughters are shown: Elizabeth (12) and Judith (10). Both were born in that state. In the 1910 U. S. Federal Census, at 58 years old, she reports to have given birth to six children with three of them still living.
