Richard Grant: Dick was born in Buckstown, 1 mile west of Mullinivat, Kilbeacon parish, Kilkenny in May of 1850. His parents were John Grant and Nellie Kenneally. He and his sister Bridget Grant Fleming (1846-1923) were brought to McHenry in 1853 as orphans by James Phalin with his nephew Thomas Phalin who were neighbors in Buckstown.
They were raised by their grandparents Tim and Nora nee Coyle Kenneally who had come from Buckstown, near Mullnavat, Kilkenny cty in 1850 and had a farm on the Irish Prairie along what is now Barreville Rd. just south of McHenry, McHenry County, Illinois.
