Mrs. Bates was born January 8, 1893 in Abbotsford. The former Dolle Prosser, she married Clint Bates in December of 1936. She received her education in Abbotsford and was a member of the Royal Neighbors.
Besides her husband, other survivors are Mrs. Porter (Cleo) Kalsem, Ames, Iowa, and three sons, Carl, Ames, Iowa, Loren, California, and Robert, Newton, Iowa.
Eighteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren also survive, along with two sisters, Mrs. Ben (Anna) Merwin, Owen, and Mrs. Myrtle Spurling, Florida.
A brother and two sisters preceded her in death. Her three sons and three nephews served as pallbearers.
