ALVIN GARDNER, 75, of Memphis, retired senior merchandise buyer for J.C. Penney, died of cancer Monday at his home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Northridge/Woodhaven Funeral Home in Millington with burial in Northridge/Woodhaven Cemetery there. Mr. Gardner, the husband of Mable Gardner, also leaves a daughter, Gail Walker of Issaquah, Wash.; a son, Wayne Gardner of Memphis, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
