Homer Wayne McWilliams (71) of Henderson, NV., passed away after being hospitalized for a stroke.

Wayne was born in Grove City, PA.. Moved to San Diego, CA. in the 1930's when he was a small child. He was known by his middle name of Wayne and grew up in the Normal Heights area. In 1949, he graduated from Hoover High School in San Diego. Wayne joined the USMC out of high school, and married high school sweetheart, Carolyn Young, On 06 Jul 1951. He was stationed at MCLB Barstow, CA., during the Korean Conflict, and was discharged in 1952

Wayne moved back to San Diego in the mid-1950's with his wife and 1st baby daughter to be closer their families. He worked at SDG&E, and later at Benton Paints. Wayne was a former member of the El Cajon Blvd. Church of Christ in North Park and before that, a member of the Linda Vista Church of Christ. He was also very active and supportive as a father, baseball Coach, and Official in the Kearny Mesa Pony and Little Leagues during the 1960's and 1970's for his son's teams.

World traveler, Patriotic, wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. A great sense of humor would describe Wayne. He really enjoyed slot machines...especially Keno. Wayne even hit 10 of 10 once. He was a resident of Henderson, NV., at the time of his death.

Preceded in death by his parents, his 1st wife of 26 years, Carolyn (Young) McWilliams in 1977, and their daughter Patricia (McWilliams) Maiorano in 1974. Survived by 2nd wife of 24 years, Nelrose (Parham) McWilliams, son Kim McWilliams, daughter Marla (McWilliams) Fryman, grandchildren Wayne Maiorano, Jessica McWilliams, Jaimie McWilliams, Erica Fryman, Kevin Fryman, great grandchildren Patricia Maiorano, and Jeremiah Maiorano, brother Stanley McWilliams, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and his beloved toy poodle "Bo".

Memorial Services with USMC Military Honors held 21 Jan 2003 at 10:00 AM at the S. Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery. Ashes divided between burial at S. Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, and scattered via aircraft over Black Mountain above Henderson.
