In 2003, Simon showed up at our back door in Fulton, MO. He had been de-clawed and neutered, but was begging for food. We figured he belonged to someone in the neighborhood. We fed him and gave him love, and would send him on his way. After many months of this daily occurrence, we allowed him to come into our home to meet our indoor fur faces, Chester, Popeye and Sweet Pea. By that time we figured maybe he really didn't have a home, as none of the close neighbors were claiming him. He went to the vet and got checked out, shots, and a clean bill of health. At the time our vet thought he was probably 1-2 years of age.

Simon was a welcome fur face to our family. He absolutely loved to eat, with his favorite food being chicken. He could smell chicken as soon as you took it out of the refrigerator. While eating, he would sit in one of the chairs at the table with 'pitiful' little eyes, watching every bite of chicken we ate. He knew eventually one of us would feel sorry for him and give him a little bite.

If you were eating in the living room, he would sit beside you and nibble on your arm, until he was offered a bite of chicken.

Simon didn't like strangers, though, and would shimmy under the bed to hide.

We awoke one morning to find Simon curled up in the living room recliner in his usual sleeping position, but had died in the night. He had not been sick, had routine vet checks, up to date on all his shots, but we still lost him from some unknown reason. We figure he must have had a massive heart attack in his sleep, but whatever happened, it was obvious he went peacefully.

We know Chester, Popeye, and Sweet Pea met him at the gates upon his death, and now the 4 of them are together again to romp and play.

We will always miss you and love you Simon, as you brought much joy to our lives.
