MRS. JULIA COOPER DIED SATURDAY

WAS ONE OF PIONEER MOTHERS OF THIS COMMUNITY - 83 YEARS OF AGE

Funeral Services Were Held at the Home Sunday - Interment in Edna Cemetery

Julia Ann Burnett was born in Wayne county, Ky., January 21, 1846 and departed this life Sept. 7, 1929, at the age of 83 years, 7 months and 16 days. She was united in marriage in the year 1866 to John R. Cooper, who passed from this life June 18, 1927.

To this union five children were born, one dying in infancy. The living children are: Mrs. Belle Koger, Mrs. Alice Metzen, Mrs. Irvin Rhodes and Mr. Frank Cooper. She is also survived by twenty-two grand children and five great grand children. She was one of a family of fourteen children, all of whom have passed to the Great Beyond.

She was converted and united with the Baptist church at the age of 20 years, and it would be difficult indeed to find a more staunch and loyal christian life than she led.

The family emigrated from Kentucky in the years 1881, first locating in Booneville, Ark. and five years later coming to Kansas.

Her life has been outstanding in generosity and neighborliness and as a mother and grandmother she has been incomparable.

The funeral took place from the home in the Trenton community Sunday, Sept. 8th, and was largely attended. There were also many beautiful flowers. Rev. W. E. Taylor, a former pastor of the Edna Baptist church preached the funeral discourse. Interment in the north Edna cemetery.
