(NOTE: The date on the headstone is incorrect and should be "1904" since that is the date of the obituary and cemetery record. According to both of those records the day of death is incorrect also and would be December 19th instead of December 21st.)

South Lead Cemetery records state that she was the wife of Herman Humble; died on Dec. 19, 1904 of peritonitis at the age of 28 years 7 days.

S.R. Smith Mortuary records of Lead state that Clara Humble died of peritonitis on December 19, 1904; age 28 years 7 days; wife of Herman Humble; funeral held at 2 p.m. on December 22, 1904 at the Baptist Church with Rev. Johnson officiating; buried in South Lead Cemetery.

Lead Daily Call newspaper, December 20, 1904 - "Died - Clara Humble, wife of Herman Humble, at 4 o'clock yesterday of peritonitis. The deceased was 28 years of age. The funeral will take place Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist church, Rev. S. Johnson officiating. Interment will be made in South Lead."

Death of Mrs. Humble
Mrs. Herman Humble died yesterday afternoon about 4 o'clock of blood poisoning at her home in Bender Park. She had been ill only a short time and her illness was not thought to be serious until yesterday morning. She leaves a husband and two small children. The funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock at the Baptist church, Rev. S. Johnson officiating.

The 1900 U.S. Census finds Clara Humble, age 25 (born Dec. 1874), residing with her husband Herman Humble, age 29 (born Mar. 1871) on Railroad Avenue in Lead. The record notes that they were both born in Sweden and had been married for two months.
