Betty (Crooks) Griffin, 81, of Aurora passed away peacefully, Monday, June 30, 2003, at her home. She was born January 20, 1922 in Hinton, West Virginia.
Betty graduated from Mooseheart in 1940. She lived most of her life in Chicago, where her husband, John, was a lieutenant with the Chicago Police Department. She moved to Aurora in 1990 when her husband passed away.
Survivors include her brother, LeRoy (Ruth) Crooks of Sarasota, FL; four nieces and nephews: Judy (Jim) Baish of Aurora, Chris (Terri) Crooks of Sarasota, FL, Karen (Michael) Beaudet of Sarasota, FL, and Alan (Vicki) Crooks of Midway, TN; six great-nieces and -nephews: Adam, Amy, Christy and Stephanie Crooks of Sarasota, FL, and Brett and Joy Baish of Aurora, IL; two step-daughters: Betty Jean (Frank) Medved of Portage, IN and Rose Ann (Bob) Gorsky of Hastings, MI; and several nieces and nephews by marriage: Kathy, Brian and Kevin Dawson of McHenry, MI, and Bobby Hanrahan of Chicago, and Jimmy Hanrahan of Montana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her parents, Roy and Georgia (Heath) Crooks; two sisters: Virginia Crooks and Winnie Mateas; and two nephew: Bob Mateas and Jerry Hanrahan.
Funeral services will be private.
