John C. Diehl
John Clair Diehl, 69, husband of Mrs. Esther Sanders Diehl, Spring Grove RD 3, died yesterday at 3:30 pm. at Ms home. A retired employee of Spring Grove Area School district, he had been employed part-time at Stemers Super market, Hanover.
A son of the late Daniel and Ida Diehl, he was a member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran church. Surviving, in addition to his wife, are seven children, Robert D. and Donald W. Diehl, both of Spring Grove RD 2; Harold G. Diehl, 631 Broadway, Hanover; John C. Diehl, Jr., Spring Grove RD 3; Mrs. Mildred E. Baker, Everett, Pa.; Mrs. Dorothy Gross, 728 East Philadelphia street, York, and Kenneth F. Diehl, Littiestown RD 1; 23 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Edith Shearer, Emigsville, and eight step brothers .and step sisters, Paul M. Diehl, Menges Mills; Mrs. Goldie Spangler, York RD 6; Mrs. Mabel Becker, York RD; Mrs. Florence Stambaugh, 60 Frederick street, Hanover; Mrs. Bessie Krout, York; Mrs. Evelyn Smith, Dover; Mrs. Minnie Stalling, Oregon, and Major Lawrence Diehl, stationed in England.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Wetzel Funeral home, 549 Carlisle street, Hanover. Rev. Dr. Paid Levi Foulk, Hanover, retired Lutheran minister, will officiate. Interment Will be in Rest Haven cemetery, Hanover.
