Roger Marvel, age 77 of Crown Point, passed away Sunday, September 11, 2011.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Darlene; three children: Lisa (Phil) Schoon of Washington State, Christine (Larry) Grom of IL, and Roger (Laura) Marvel of LaPorte; nine grandchildren: Jonathan (Desire) Schoon, Jason (Jessica) Schoon, Susanne, Laurren, and Michelle Schoon, Kenneth and James Grom, and David and Grace LeRoy; two great grandchildren: Jayden Schoon and Layla Schoon; brother, Roy (Frada) Marvel of MA; and sister, Annette (Reinhold) Alliger of Canada; special friends: Dave and Betty Markley. Roger was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church of Crown Point.
He was the owner of Marvel's Wholesale Bait and Tackle for 25 years and was a graduate of Clark High School, Class of 1953. Roger was a member of the Army Reserves. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and trapper, enjoyed ballroom dancing, and was an instructor at Arthur Murray Dance Studio, Hammond.
Family and friends may call at Pruzin & Little Funeral Service, 811 E. Franciscan Dr., Crown Point on Thursday, September 15, 2010 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 16, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 250 S. Indiana Ave., Crown Point with Rev. David Kipp officiating. There will be one half-hour of visitation prior to service. At rest Concordia Cemetery, Hammond.
