Mrs Harriet Smith died at the home of her daughter, Mrs Oscar White, at Cody, Wyo, where she was visiting, Thur, Aug the 2nd, aged 74 years.
The remains were taken to Oakdale, Nebr, where she made her home with another daughter, Mrs Clarence Moss. Sun morning accompanied by Mrs White, and funeral services were held at the home.
Following the services the body was brought to Atkinson, reaching here 5 o’clock Sun evening and interment was made in Woodlawn Cem by the side of her husband, F S Smith, who died Dec 1,1912.
She is survived by two sons, Howard of Montrose, Colo, Charles N of Atkinson, 5 daughters Mrs H C Laughlin of NY City, Mrs Julia F Tyler of Detroit, Mich, Mrs Harry Beebe of Pullman, Illinois, Mrs Oscar White of Cody, Wyo, and Mrs Clarence Moss of Oakdale, Nebr.
Mr and Mrs Smith were residents in the Inez settlement, south of Atkinson, for a number of years, coming there from Valley Co about 24 years ago. From their ranch near Inez they moved to Atkinson in the spring of 1912 and made their home until the death of Mr Smith the following Dec.

Harriet was born Harriet Ann Hartnell, the 4th of 8 children of John and Eliza (née Kerley) Hartnell, both natives of Dorset County, England. Her parents were married in 1844 in Dorset, and emigrated with John's widowed father, John Hartnell (Sr.) to the township of Brighton, Kenosha County, Wisconsin, about 1845.
