John Petry (Petrey) was the son of Adam Tick Petry and Susan Denny (possibly Levira Susan Denny). He married Effie B Denny and they had the following children: Dessie, Willie, Versie, Myrtle, Nellie, Pearl and Mildred. They lived in Kentucky. At some date they moved to Ohio. Effie is buried in Middletown Ohio. John's WWI draft card lists his birthdate as 1882, whereas his WWII lists the birthday as 1883, same month and year. The WWI draft card lists his residence as Stanford, Lincoln Co, KY and his wife is listed as Effie. The WWII draft card lists Orient RR1, Muhlenburg Township, Pickaway Co, Ohio as his address and Mildred Petry as his wife, probably Mildred Sagel. At the time of his death Mildred was not listed in his obituary. Sadly, John died without funds and was buried by the state of Ohio. His funeral was paid for by the state, but there was never a headstone. There was a fire at the cemetery office, so there is no record of his burial plot. There are records at the funeral home which definitely places his burial at this cemetery, but there isn't a plot listed.
