Henry V. Said, 79, 3520 W. 28th St., died Wednesday at his home after a long illness. He was born in Yorktown and was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. He attended Muncie schools.
Mr. Said worked for Delco Battery for 37 years, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and had been active in many local bowling leagues.
Surviving are his wife, E. Helen Said; a son, Dwight Said, Muncie; seven daughters, Doris Clary, Peggy Chalfant, Beckie Schaefer, Helen Joan Atkins, all of Muncie, Marsha Pugsley, Daleville, Vickie Cummings, Union City, Ohio, and Donna Baltimore, Englewood, Fla.; a brother, Carl Said, Hamburg, N.Y.; a sister, Margaret Donohue, Utah; 23 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in Parson Mortuary-Adams Chapel. Burial will be in Tomlinson Cemetery, southwest of Muncie. Calling will be 5-8 p.m. today at the mortuary.
