Services held Monday for Bert Arthur Scott, 80, from the First Presbyterian Church in Gillette, Wyoming Monday morning May 18th 1959 with the Rev. Robert M. Phoenix in charge. Mr. Scott passed away at his home in Hulett May 14th. Laverne Harrod sang "Peace in the Valley" and "Beyond the Sunset" accompanied by Mrs. Lewis Grams included amoung the pallbearers where Joe Edwards, Elmer Jones, Richard Proctor, Jack Vasey, Ralph Barbour and Henry L. Nelman. internment was at Mount Pisgah Cemetery, Gillette, Campbell Co., Wyoming.
Bert Arthur Scott was born 09/23/1878 to Charles and Rachel Miller Scott at Leon,
Iowa. He grew to manhood in Lucas County, Iowa and on July 25th 1898 he was married to Lola Belle Patrick. To this union was born 5 children. The family moved to Wyoming in 1916 and settled on a homestead southwest of Gillette. In 1942 the family moved to Gillette where in 1944 he was preceded in death by his wife Lola, also preceding him in death was a daughter, Mrs. Fern Tyrrell in 1956, 3 brothers, Cleveland, Cliff and Clark, also 1 grandchild Gary Wayne Johnson.
For the past 11 years Scott has made his home with his 2 daughters, Mrs. Joe Dent of Broadus, Montana, and Mrs. Merle Johnson of Hulett, Wyoming.
Those left to mourn his passing are 2 daughters, 2 sons, Carl of Upton and Walter of Laramie. 2 sisters, Mrs. Cozy Niswender of Gillette, Wyoming. Mrs. Royal Swanson of Chariton, Lucas Co., Iowa. 2 brothers Oral and Rex both of Newton, Iowa, 25 grandchildren and 64 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
