Gloria (Jennings) Wilson, Abingdon Chapel, age 79, of Avon, died at 9:24 am Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at the Care Center of Abingdon.
She was born on August 25, 1932 in the Saunders Hospital in Avon, the daughter of Rex & Ruth (Brown) Jennings. She married James L. Wilson on June 25, 1949 in Monmouth. He preceded her in death on August 9, 2000. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Earl Jennings and Ted Jennings and one sister, Marlene Chatterton.
Gloria is survived by her children, Sandra Wilson of Huntley, Susan (and Angelo) Mangieri of Abingdon, Sharon Wilson of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Rex Wilson of Avon; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.
She had lived in Avon since 1997 and prior to that had lived in the Keithsburg, Oquawka and Berwick areas. She worked at the former Gale Products Factory in Galesburg. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting, fishing, camping, and making hats.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 23, 2011 at the Avon Cemetery. Rev. Tom Smith will officiate. There will be no visitation. Hinchliff-Pearson-West Abingdon Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
