Mrs. Walter Margaret C.) Pretorius 72, of 123 E. 12th St., Dover, active in church and women’s club groups, died this morning in Union Hospital. She had been ill since Saturday.
A native of Steubenville, Mrs. Pretorius was graduated by the University of Wisconsin. Prior to her marriage to Pretorius, founder of Pretorius Insurance Agency in Dover, she was a member of the faculty at University of West Virginia in the home economics department.
She was member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dover, the New Philadelphia Women’s Club, Dover American Legion Auxiliary, Union Country Club, Sigma Kappa sorority, American Nu, and a charter member of the American Assn. of University Women.
Surviving in addition to her husband are a son and daughter, Calvin C. Pretorius of Dover and Mrs. Kermit (Carol Anne) Schlamb of Charlottesville, Va. And 15 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Fletcher and Georgiianna Peters Chambers, a son, two brothers and a sisters.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. in Grace Lutheran Church with Dr. William Haggis officiating. Interment will be in Dover Burial Park. Friends may call Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Friday until noon at Toland-Herzig Funeral Home from noon to until 2 p.m. at the church.
