Obituary from POST REGISTER (IDAHO FALLS, ID) - 4 NOVEMBER 2003:
Ellen Magdalene Killian, 69, of Rigby, died at her home November 2, 2003, of ALS Lou Gehrig's disease.
She was born November 25, 1933, in Rigby, to David Osborne Glenn and Margaret Virginia Bagley Glenn. She grew up and attended schools in the Garfield and Rigby area. She earned her G.E.D. then went on to earn her Masters degree from Brigham Young University in guidance and counseling in 1985.
On August 16, 1951, she married Charley Duane Killian in Rigby. Their marriage was solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple on January 9, 1958. They divorced in 1989.
Ellen taught at Fairview Elementary School in Ucon from 1974 until 1996. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She served as Relief Society President, in the Primary Presidency, and as a counselor in the Young Women's Mutual Improvement Association. She served in Boy Scouts of America for 40 years and was one of the few to be awarded the Silver Fawn Award in scouting and also served as a 4-H leader for several years.
She enjoyed oil painting, photography, sewing and crocheting, and especially camping, and hunting with her family. She was an avid genealogist.
Survivors include four daughters, Vikki Ricks, Jeanie (David) Briggs, Terri (Lane) Criddle, and Wendy (Jerry) Davis, all of Rigby; two sons, Dana (Robin) Killian of Rigby and Bret (Velvet) Killian of Milo; two sisters, Betty (Glen) Morgan of Rigby and Shari Glenn of Los Angeles; 24 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Ted Glenn and Von Glenn, and one great-grandson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2003, at Rigby 11th Ward LDS Chapel, 401 West 1st. South at Rigby. Burial will be in Annis Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
