TUPELO – Charlie Putt, 78, died Sunday, May 31, 2009, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born April 17, 1931, in Baldwyn to Edgar and Bessie Willis Putt. He served four years in the Navy and was stationed in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was the founder and previous owner of Quality Bedding Inc. of Tupelo. He loved to fish, spend time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and he enjoyed gardening. He was a member of Northeast Church of Christ.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jim Allen officiating and Bro. Earl Mitchell assisting. Burial will be in the Garden of the Resurrection at Lee Memorial Park.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Young (Steve) of Tupelo; one son, Larry Putt of Tupelo; one sister, Evelyn Cooper (Harliss) of St. Louis, Mo.; two grandchildren, Jennifer Pearson (Ryan) and Angela Owen; and three great-grandchildren, Carson Owen, Corben Owen and Gabrielle Pearson. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Bobbye Nell Putt; four brothers, Milton Putt, Robert Putt, Clifford Putt and Walter Putt.

Pallbearers will be Jackie Clayton, Butch Simmons, Buck Wooldridge, Kelly Mims, Terry Dearman and Tim Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Scott Doles, Jimmy Johnson, Jonathan Doles and Ray Barnett.
