Mrs. Betsy Ayers
A Long Time Resident of Lapeer Died Tuesday
Mrs. Betsy Ayers died at her home in Lapeer at 3:45 o'clock yesterday afternoon of heart failure following pheumonia. She had been in poor health all winter and seriously ill for about 10 days.
Mrs. Ayers, whose maiden name was Betsy Hilsinger, was born in Marathon Feb. 24, 1834, and lived there until she was married to Jesse Ayers, Dec. 30 1855, since which time she has lived in Lapeer in the house where she died. She joined the Christian church when a girl and until her death was a faithful member of that church.
She is survived by two sons and three daughters, John W. Ayers of Olwein, IA, Dr. Franklin D. Ayers of Sabuta, IA, Mrs. W. W. Jennison of Courtland, Mrs. E. T. Dye of Marathon, and Mrs. Preston L. Conrad of Lapeer.
The funeral will be held from her late home in Lapeer tomorrow afternoon at 1 o'clock.
Mrs. Ayers came from one of the old pioneer familiess of the county and has possessed a host of friends. She was a frequent guest of her daughter in this city and was well known to many here
