SHELDEN ATWATER, 90, a retired farmer of rural Havana, died at 11:07 a.m. Thursday June 9, 1988 at Mason District Hospital, Havana, IL.

Born November 15, 1897 in Quiver Township to Shelden and Iris Jones Atwater Sr., he married Emma Wills on January 27, 1920, in Stanhope, Iowa. She died June 29, 1965.

Three brothers, four sisters, two granddaughters and one great-great grandchild also preceded him in death.

Surviving are one son, Paul of Havana; one daughter, Mrs. Orley (Verla) Welker of Havana; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

He was a member of the Havana Central Christian Church and Mason County Farm Bureau.

Services were held Saturday at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana. The Rev. Robison officiated.

Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Havana, IL.
