WILLARD G. DARLING
Willard G. (Duke) Darling, 64, of RR 3 Box 142 Meshoppen (Rush Twp, Susquehanna County), died Sunday evening, Aug 22, 1999, at his home, surrounded by his family. He and his wife, the former Josephine Cicon, were married 37 1/2 years.
Born Sept. 24, 1934, in Nicholson, he was a son of the late Floyd M. and Lydia Stevens Darling. He was a graduate of Meshoppen High School, Class of 1952. He was retired from Procter and Gamble Paper Products Co., Mehoopany, after being employed there for 17 1/2 years. He was a member of Retta United Methodist Church and a past member of Rush Volunteer Fire Company and its First Responders.
Also surviving are a daughter, Barbara S. Hatcher, Kingston; five sons, Gary S. Darling, Shavertown; Willard G. Darling, Jr., Dallas; Floyd G. Darling and Alan W. Darling both of Meshoppen and David E. Darling, Grand Forks, ND; a sister Ruth Morris, Sayre; four brothers, C. Robert Darling, Retta; Richard Darling, Nicholson; Edward Darling, West Valley, NY; and Gordon Darling; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Darling, in 1989.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 am from Sheldon Funeral Home, Main Street, Meshoppen, with the Rev. Kenneth Bitler of Retta United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment, Jersey Hill Cemetery.
