Funeral services will begin at 2 p.m. Sun., Oct. 2, for Myrtle Pekarek, 87, Madison, who died on Sept. 29, 2011, at Golden Living Center. The Rev. Sandra Larson will officiate in First Presbyterian Church at Madison, and burial will be in Winfred Cemetery at Winfred.

The family will be present at 5 p.m. Saturday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel.

Myrtle Framness was born on April 8, 1924, at Winfred to Olaf and Anna (Gottsch) Framness. She grew up in Winfred and married Marcus Pekarek on April 10, 1942, at Winfred. They farmed near Winfred until they retired and moved to Madison in 1993. Her husband died in 2002.

She was an active member of Winfred UCC when they lived in Winfred and joined First Presbyterian when they moved to Madison.

Survivors include a daughter, Peggy (Marol) Hansen of Lake Wood, Colo.; two granddaughters; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary Ann Massey of Tacoma, Wash.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Melvin in 2007; a brother; and two sisters.
