His directorial film debut was the neorealist drama The Sky is Red with an additional nine films ranging from comedies to westerns including Three Strangers in Rome. His most famous film was Febbre di Vivere starring Marcello Mastroianni. Additionally working on Adua e le compagne, directed by Antonio Pietrangeli; Tutti a casa, by Luigi Comencini; and A Difficult Life, by Dino Risi's. Born as and sometimes credited as Emilio Giordana, Gora had a very successful career on stage and television. Married to the Italian actress Marina Berti from 1944 until his death.
