Carrie McCarger was born Nov. 26, 1851 at Ontario, Canada, and was the daughter of Thomas and Lucy Selleck McCarger. She was married March 25, 1873 to Dolphus Mosher whose death occurred in 1916 and they spent their married life in the towns of Venice and Genoa with the exception of seven years passed in Moravia coming from that place about forty years ago. In l908 they left their farm and since that time their home has been in this village.
Mrs. Mosher was a devoted member of the Presbyterian church and was active in all its work. While she was interested in the social side, her greatest thought and interest was for its spiritual growth through the service of worship, the Sunday school and prayer service.
The deceased leaves three sisters, Mrs. Lucy Linderman of Cortland, Mrs. Madge Corning of Groton and Mrs. Emma Bower of Genoa; a niece,
Miss Maude Linderman of Cortland.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 2 o'clock at the house and at 2:30 at the Presbyterian church Rev. D. J. Westlake, pastor and Rev. A. T. Clark, a former pastor, officiating. Rev. Clark chose the 13th chapter of I Cor. verses 4-8 as the basis of his remarks which were truly fitting. Miss Emma Bush sang one selection "Nearer the Cross." The floral tributes were many and bore silent testimony of the love and esteem of friends.
Burial was made in the family lot beside her husband in East Venice cemetery.
Among those from out of town who attended were friends from Oswego, Ithaca, Auburn, Cortland, Homer and Lansingville.
