Donais Jr., 35,According to police, Donais crashed the Occoquan-Woodbridge-Lorton Volunteer Fire Department's 22-foot patrol boat into an unlighted pole marking the state line between Maryland and Virginia shortly before midnight July 4. Authorities said the pole split the boat in two, and that Elisa Escalante, 20, of Woodbridge, likely died almost instantly. Escalante, who was an aspiring firefighter recruit and an EMT, had been riding with the two volunteers for the night. She was pronounced dead at Potomac Hospital.
