He married Caroline.
*Additional Family Info*
Johann Peter and Julius Stuempges were indeed brothers, but served in different companies and regiments during the Civil War. Julius was born to Johann Stümpges and Gertraud/Gertrude Vits on 12 Jul 1838 in Rheydt, and was baptized 17 days later on 29 Jul 1838. I would love to link them up as brothers, but I have no idea where either of their parents are buried or when they passed. I need to conduct church record research in Manitowoc County to determine, at the least, when the father passed and was buried. Gertraud is listed as Johann's widow at the time of an ad placed in the Manitowoc Tribune on 11 Dec 1856 concerning a chancery sale. By the 1860 census she was living in Cass County, Illinois with her son Wilhelm (William).
