Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He served as a Sergeant in the Union Army in Company F, 10th Connecticut Infantry. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for action on April 2, 1865 at Petersburg, Virginia. His citation reads "Gallantry as color bearer in the assault on Fort Gregg."
