Miss Sarah Owens, Freedom, passed away at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Lewis, West Main St., Arcade, Tuesday evening, November 22, after a three week's illness.
Miss Owens, daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Owens, was born in the town of Freedom, May 4, 1858.
Miss Owens suffered from ill health the greater part of her life. This was borne with wonderful fortitude and patience. She was always mindful of the interest of those who kindly ministered to her needs and shared whenever possible.
At an early age in life she united with the Freedom Baptist Church, where she remained a member to the end, and where she attended the services whenever possible, she was a conscientious and consistent christian.
She made her home at Freedom with her sister, the late Mrs. Elizabeth Owens, until her death in 1917. Since that time she has resided at Meadville, Pa., Castile and Arcade.
She is survived by three nephews; Clayton Owens, Frank and Earl Thomas, Freedom.
The funeral was held Friday afternoon from her home at Freedom, and from the Baptist Church at Freedom, Rev. Gomer Mills officiating. The services were well attended, friends being present from Castile, Batavia, Medina, Hinsdale, Franklinville, Elton and Arcade.
Interment was in the family lot in Freedom cemetery.
