Page 10 Amsterdam Recorder Friday, December 26, 1969 - Alexander Hancock, 69, was found dead Thursday at his home, 5 McDonnell St. It is believed he had been dead about 48 hours when his body was discovered. Mr. Hancock had returned to Amsterdam Monday night from Lima, Ohio, where he had attended the funeral of his brother-in-law. Born March 15, 1900, he was a veteran of World Wars I and II. He retired last March from a position with the Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany and prior to that had been employed in the Mohawk Carpet Mills. His wife, the former Charlotte Fingerly, died in 1930. Mr. Hancock is survived by one son, Alexander Hancock Jr.; three grandchildren, Susan, Linda and Robert Hancock; and one sister, Mrs. Cornelia Pohlabel, all of Lima, Ohio; also nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gale's note: Per Turner Family Bible and US Public Records Index, Alex was actually born 19 March 1901. Per family Bible records, obit and telegram, his wife Charlotte (Lottie) died in Lima, Allen, Ohio 2 May 1931.
