Mrs. Vera Iolene Sherman, 99, of Maysville, died April 24, 2006 at Grant Memorial Hospital, Petersburg.
Born Sept. 21, 1906, in Moorefield, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Barr and Mamie (Newhouse) Barr. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Holmes Clifton Sherman, Nov. 21, 1992; two sons, Robert Boyd Sherman and Marvin "Sonny" Sherman; three brothers, Paul Barr, James Barr and Vance Barr; and two sisters, Jean Simmons and Lila Miller.
She is survived by one son, Gerald Clifton Sherman of Maysville; one sister, Gladys Barr Hardy of Rig; one brother, Robert Burns Barr of Rig; two granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were April 27, at the Basagic Funeral Home chapel, Petersburg. Interment was in the Lahmansville Cemetery.
