A member of the Spanish Church of Christ, she was born and raised in Redford, Texas and came to Carlsbad as a teen-ager.
Survivors include two sons, Abel and Damas, both of Carlsbad; six daughters, Juanita Gonzales, Lorine Angel, Isis Contreras and Rosa Gonzales, all of Carlsbad and Rita Sapien and Rachael Sapein, both of Otis; two sisters, Mrs. Elisa Acosta, Carlsbad, and Mrs. Bartola Valdez, Gibbon, Nev.; and 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren.

Prayer service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. in the West Funeral Home chapel for Juliana Baiza Rodriguez, 70, 605 Boyd R., who died Friday in a Carlsbad hospital.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Spanish Church of Christ, 414 S. Guadalupe St., with Michael Zuniga, minister of the church, officiating.
Burial will be in Santa Catarina.
Pallbearers will be Leopoldo Gonzalez, Andres Contreras, Eleuterio Sapien, Domingo Sapien, Pedro Angel and Jose Gonzales.
Mrs. Rodriguez will lie in state Sunday from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
