Pastor Rudolph Jaeggli emigrated from Switzerland at the age of 25 via Bremen, Germany, aboard the ship "Juno," arriving in America on 19 Dec 1860, at the port of Galveston, Texas. He was one of several early Lutheran missionaries to the newly-admitted state of Texas, and rose to prominence as a Lutheran circuit minister and church leader in central Texas. He is commemorated in the central stained glass window behind the alter of Zion Lutheran Church in Moulton, Lavaca County, Texas, to which his wife Amalia moved with their children following his death to be near her brother and sister.

Rudolph father was Hans Heinrich Jaeggli (1809-1838). He is buried at or near Seen Switzerland. His Jaggli family line has been traced back to the 1500's.

Gravesite Details

Pastor Jaeggli was first interred at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Baursville, Lavaca County, TX. His body was later moved to the Moulton City Cemetery.
