Canadian politician. A native of Rimouski (Québec), he studied at the seminary of Québec and the college of Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière. A wood tradesman, he owned sawmills in Métis and Lac-Trois-Saumons. From 1870 to 1874, he had the post of contractor at the time of the construction of the Intercolonial Railway. He joined the voluntary militia in 1859 and was promoted lieutenant-colonel thereafter. In 1886, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly as the Liberal representative for the district of Rimouski. He died in function with Rimouski. He was the brother of Alphonse-Fortunat Martin, member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba, from 1874 to 1879 and from 1883 to 1896.
