DONAT FETTIG WAS NEARLY 90
Aged Pioneer Came To Michigan Seventy-Five Years Ago
Donat Fettig, pioneer farmer of this region, died at the home of his son, Charles Fettig, one mile east of the Bay View club house, at six o'clock this morning, death being due to extreme old age.
Mr. Fettig, a veteran of the Civil war, came to Michigan from Baden, Germany, where he was born. He would have been ninety years of age had he lived until November 2, 1926. He settled on a farm, four miles east of this city, near the state road, about 75 years ago, where he lived until, in recent years, advancing age compelled him to make his home with his son. Mrs. Fettig died some twenty-six years ago.
There are nine surviving children, four daughters and five sons. They are: Mrs. Anna Hasenfus, Mrs. Michael Kopp, Mrs. William Lyons, Mrs. John Foster and Martin, Julius, Charles, John and Joseph Fettig. There are 52 grand-children and 11 great-grandchildren.
Plans for the funeral are not as yet definite, but it is thought it will be held Saturday morning from St. Francis Roman Catholic church in this city, Rev. Fr. John Curry officiating.
