His death though not unexpected was a shock to his friends. He had been a member of the Presbyterian church for 41 years, having been admitted on examination March 3, 1861 and taking an active part in church work until a few years ago. He is survived by four sons and three daughters, all grown and having families. The funeral took place Saturday from the home of his son Archie. Barton Lodge No. 90 I.O.O.F. of which he was a member escorted the body to the grave. The remains were interred in Laurel Hill cemetery, Rev. McMaster officiating Lonaconing Star
