Halford Shirley b. Kingsland, Llano, TX. He was in the National Guard when he was inducted into the United States Army during World War II. The Japanese captured the soldiers and made them go through the Bataan death march. They were put on a ship and sunk by the Japanese. The bodies of the servicemen were never recovered. Halford died in 1944.
