Ambrose Cole enlisted as a Private in the Independent Company of the Fourth Michigan Infantry on February 9, 1864, for 3 years service and was on detached service with Company F of the First Michigan Volunteer Infantry, by order, July 2, 1864. He died on July 2, 1864, of wounds received in action on May 22, 1864.
