NOTE: This Mary is not to be confused with Mary (McLeod) Strange who was the wife of Mitchell Strange (his link is below).
There have been no records located which indicate that this Mary Strange ever married prior to the birth of her children (all census records from 1880 and prior show her as "single" but the 1900 census shows "widowed" but still with the last name 'Strange', so she may have married a 'Strange' after her children were born). It is unknown who the father of her children were, however, family folklore among several cousins who are descended from Elizabeth "Leasy" (Mary's daughter) has always been that Leasy had Cherokee blood in her, so it's possible that the Cherokee line came from Leasy's father, but it is uncertain.
The gravestones for this Mary and her parents were added long after their deaths by some of their descendants.
Children:
- Elizabeth "Leasy" Strange (1865-1918)
- Preston Strange (circa 1874-?)
- Sarah Strange (circa 1880-?)
