Mr. Frye was born January 24, 1899, in Owsley County, Kentucky to John and Elizabeth Banks Frye. His wife, the former Bessie Napier, to whom he was married September 26, 1918, died July 7, 1975.
Survivors include five sons, Silas, John and Edgar (Ed) Frye of Connersville; Lansford Frye Jr., of Greensburg and James Frye of Laurel; three daughters Mrs. Goldie York of Everton; Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Moore, R.R.1, Metamora and Mrs. Tom (Rosalie) Robinson of Connersville; two stepsons, Everett and Vernon Milbourn of Laurel; four brothers, Hillery of Brookville; Charles of Connersville, Moses of Aurora and Grant of Fountain City; two sisters, Mrs. Alia Bennett of Cincinnati, Ohio; and Mrs. Martha Branstetter of Cleves, Ohio; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren.
