Rex was born January 31, 1914 in Milton, Rock County, Wisconsin, son of Lawrence and Bessie Craig Addie. He died August 30, 1987 at Janesville, Wisconsin, aged 73 years, 6 months and 29 days and was buried in the Milton Lawn Memorial Park.

On July 8, 1933 Rex was united in marriage to Creta Elizabeth Brown in Rockford, Illinois. Creta was born September 11, 1909 in Union, Rock County, Wisconsin, daughter of George Edson Brown and Harriet Lutitia Appleman. She died January 24, 1995 at Janesville, Rock County, Wisconsin, aged 85 years, 4 months and 13 days and was buried in Milton Lawn Memorial Park in Milton, Rock County, Wisconsin. Their two children were: Jean Ellen, b. 23 Aug 1934 and Lawrence Eugene Addie, b. 2 Aug 1937.

Crete and Rex farmed for many years on several different farms near Milton, Rock County, Wisconsin. They were foster parents to many troubled boys sent to them by the county authorities. After retiring from farming they moved to Joliet, Illinois where Rex was a guard at Stateville Penitentiary. Later they retired in Janesville, Wisconsin, where they both lived out the rest of their days.

JANESVILLE -- Rex Addie, age 73, of 1421 Canyon Dr., died at Mercy Hospital Sunday evening. He was born Jan. 31, 1914 in Milton, the son of Larence and Bessie Craig Addie. He worked at General Motors for 10 years prior to farming in the Milton and Johnstown area. In 1966, he became a correctional officer at the Statesville Prison, Joliet, IL. He retired in 1984 and had lived in Janesville since.

He married Cretia Brown July 8, 1933 in Rockford, IL.
He is survived by his wife; 1 son, Lawrence Addie of Janesville; 1 daughter, Mrs. Robert (Jean) Mansur of Janesville; 1 brother, Dean Fields of Waukesha; 1 sister, Mrs. Phoebe Bauer of Edgerton; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 2 at the ABRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Milton. Burial will be in Milton Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 9:00 p.m. at the ABRECHT FUNERAL HOME, Milton. [Unknown Newpaper dated August 31, 1987.]
