Her parents were Henry and Nettie (Thornton) Hufford. Kathryn married Herbert McCarty on May 1, 1930 in Flat Rock, Seneca County, Ohio. Herbert previously married Kathryn's sister Mary Hufford on Sept. 30, 1914 in South Starksboro, Addison County, Vermont, but she died in 1929. Kathryn had no children of her own but was step-mother to Herbert's boys, Charles Hufford and Elmer Herbert McCarty.
