Services were held at 3 p.m. on Oct. 20 at the Beverage Family Funeral Home in Sandwich with Rev. Thomas Babler officiating. Interment was at Millington-Newark Cemetery, Millington. Visitation was from 4-8 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Gillispie was born July 3, 1921 in Sheridan to the late Peter and Agnes Huetson. She married William Gillispie. He preceded her in death in 1969.
Survivors include her children, Sandra (Lee) Stanford, Leroy Gillispie, Warren Gillispie all of Mendota, Carrie Gillispie of Cherry and Brenda Gillispie of Sandwich; nine grandchildren, Troy, Travis and Trent Stanford, Julie Tucker, Jennifer Donahue, Michael Gillispie, Gina Fugate, Cherokee Gillispie and Dina Zimmerman; 19 great grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Huetson and Juanita Osiol; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Olive (Harry) Gillispie; and four brothers, Francis, Walter, Malvin and her twin brother, Warren Huetson.
Mrs. Gillispie was a homemaker and her family was the most important thing in her life. She experienced hearing loss at an early age, which caused some difficulty, but she excelled in music learning to play the piano, harmonica and accordion to name a few. Her twin brother “Buddy” always looked after his sister. Along with music, she loved to dance and at the age of 62, she took up roller skating at the Fairway Rink in Sandwich. She also enjoyed puzzle books and sewing.
