From the Union County Courier, May 7,1903, page 8:
"Minnie Coverdale, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Coverdale, died Friday, May 1st after an illness of several weeks. The funeral was conducted from the Baptist church Sunday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. J.M. Hupp officiating. More than four hundred people were present to pay their respects to the memory of the departed and tender their sympathy to the bereaved friends.

The pall bearers were as follows: Wesley Fickey, Robt. Kent, Bert and John Flannery, Byron and Ralph Reid and were accompanied by an escort of six young ladies, friends of the deceased. Following are their names: Maud Kent, Ollie Walters, Margaret Keville, Maud Busby, Effie Yager, Mollie Fennel. A beautiful wreath of cut flowers was given by young friends, also several bouquets by others, friends of the family. The music was furnished by members from the Baptist and Methodist choirs, Mrs. L.T. Rust acting as organist.

Deceased had a large circle of friends. She was a quiet, cheerful, modest, unassuming young lady and during her sickness was patient and uncomplaining. The end came peacefully.
At her death she had passed her twentieth birthday. The family have the sympathy of the entire community.....Card of Thanks. We wish to extend our heartfelt thanks to the many friends and neighbors who so kindly assisted during the sickness and death of our darling Minnie. Mr. and Mrs. Jos. Coverdale and family."
