According to the 1900 Census John, 43, and Tennie, 40, were living in Ardmore , Chickasaw Nation, Indian territory with their four children William Calvin, 14, Corey, 7, Jesse, 5, and Earl, 11 months. John was a day laborer and they were renting their home. The couples 2 older sons, John Wesley and Marion Sterns Jennings had already gone out on their own.
Tennie died in 1902 and is buried in Oakland Cemetery near Madill Oklahoma, they had been married 22 years.
John's second wife was Minnie Shipley and they were married in 1904. They had two children Octi Oreator , and John C. "JC" Jennings.
