Sadie Croushorn Byers was the daughter of James William Croushorn and Mary Craun Croushorn. She married Henry A. Byers and had three children: the late Russell Byers of Augusta County then Rockingham County (Bridgewater) and the late Mary Byers Owens of the same area, who had married Ray Owens.

A third child William A. Byers born Feb. 26, 1920 died August 22, 1925 after ingesting lye, family history tells us. #19943496 is the no. of his gravesite here.

Sadie was the half-sister of Evalena Croushorn Heflin,(my mother) Roscoe Clinton Croushorn, William Frederick Croushorn, and Charles Walter Croushorn - my mother and 3 uncles, all deceased, who lived in Fauquier and/or Prince William Counties, Virginia instead of the Shenandoah Valley.

Sadie helped to raise her half-sister, Evalena Croushorn, off and on after Evalena's mother, Alice, died when Evalena was about 8 years old. (Alice was the 2nd wife of James Wm. Croushorn.)

She also had step-children from her husband's first marriage including Ollie Mae Byers, Carl Hamilton Byers and possibily one other step-son. I just can't remember.
