George Blevins, 81, died Sunday, Apr. 8, 1990, at 12:23 a.m. in DeKalb Memorial Hospital. An Auburn resident, Mr. Blevins was a bartender and owned one-half interest in The Hanger tavern of Auburn. He was born July 11, 1906 in Avilla, IN, to the late Charles and Rose (Pfister) Blevins. He married Marjorie Davis on Sept. 28, 1929 in Warsaw, IN. She survives.
Also surviving are four sons, Richard E. of North Highlands, CA, Jerry A. of Lake-of-the-Pines, CA and James W. and Jacob D., both of Auburn; one daughter, Barbara E. Phillips of Auburn; two brothers, Harry of Auburn and Robert A. of Waterloo; one sister, Florence Hackenburg of Three Rivers, MI; 23 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Friends may call Tuesday, from 2-5 and 7-9 p.m. in McComb, Dilgard & Cline Funeral Home, Auburn. A Moose memorial service will begin Tuesday at 730 p.m. in the funeral home. Services will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the funeral home, with Pastor Dean Woolard officiating. Burial will be in Elwood Cemetery in Elwood, IN, with a graveside service at 2 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
