Harry Blevins, 89, died Saturday, Feb.13, at 4:45 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, Garrett, where he had resided for four years. Mr. Blevins was the former owner of Cricket's Tavern in Auburn, and lived in Auburn most of his life. He was a Chicago Cubs fan and avid fisherman. He was born Aug. 12, 1909, in Avilla, to the late Charles and Rose (Pfister) Blevins. He married Esther I. Goe on Feb. 16, 1929, in Auburn, and she died Jan. 18, 1990.
Surviving are one son, Charles E. of Auburn; four daughters, Betty J. Dyer of Garrett, Helen J. (Jack) Sanders of Auburn, Rebecca I. (William) Meyers of Angola and Rosetta I. (Robert) Vollmer of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Bill, Art, George and Robert; and four sisters, Hazel Hartman, Ilda Shock, Helen Hawk and Florence Hackenburg.
His funeral was held Wednesday, Feb. 17, at 1 p.m. at the Auburn Church of the Nazarene. Burial was Feb. 17, in Roselawn Cemetery, Auburn. McComb, Dilgard & Cline Funeral Home, Auburn, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be given to the church or to a charity of the donor's choice.
