SAMPLES, Mabel Pearle, (Pat), 83, of Roanoke, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, February 18, 2001. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Franklin Samples. She was a member of South Roanoke United Methodist Church. Mrs. Samples was a graduate of Charleston General Hospital School Professional Nursing and did post-graduate work at Johns Hopkins Hospital. She retired as a Head Nurse at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Surviving are her daughters, Patricia Simmons and husband, George of Hampton, Tenn., Susan LeGard and husband, Ned of Roanoke, Jacqueline Singleton and husband, Bill of Waynesboro; grandchildren, L. Paul Myers, Jr. and wife, Chris of Gray, Tenn., Rodney Dillman of Lexington, Ashley Dillman of Troutville, Jessica Dillman and Barrett Dillman, both of Waynesboro and their father, Rodney Dillman of Troutville; two great-grandchildren, one brother, Deane Kelley of Parkersburg, W.Va.
