Aileen Louella Houchins was the younger of two daughters born to Elbert Fowler Houchins and Louella Ollie Kirby of Monroe County. She married Samuel Lynch Burdette on October 25, 1924 in Union, Monroe, West Virginia. In the fifteen years before her death she and Samuel had ten children of whom eight survived into adulthood.

She died from eclampsia the day after delivering her tenth child, Cecelia, who succumbed to congenital heart disease two months and one day after her mother's death. Cecelia and another child, Samuel, who died of meningitis at sixteen months, are buried near her at New Lebanon.
